Welcome to 17 Burgate, an elegant Georgian Market Town House situated in the heart of the market town of Pickering between the town centre and the castle, offering fabulous individually designed and furnished en suite accommodation. ’17’ is more than a “b and b”, offering additional facilities such as a private lounge dining room stocked with books, magazines, honesty bar, afternoon tea tray with cakes and of course a comfy sofa and chairs.  Free WiFi access, IPod docking stations and a secluded garden, all add to the home comforts you would expect from one of the country’s top rated bed and breakfasts.

17 has been sympathetically renovated to retain the features and charm of its long history dating back to the 17th Century, whilst at the same time all the requirements of the discerning modern traveller have been included. In addition we take care to use local produce, be it bacon and eggs, beer or plants, and minimise our impact on the environment as much as possible.

17 is a total experience, the attention to detail, the relaxed atmosphere, the comfort and spaciousness of the bedrooms and bathrooms, the walled garden, the private car parking, are just some of the benefits we offer.

Our location in the heart of the conservation area has been instrumental in helping customers choose ’17’ as the place to stay. Whether you are visiting the North Yorkshire Moors Railway ,a short stroll down the hill, Heartbeat Country and the NY Moors or the coast at Whitby or Scarborough Pickering is a perfect base. Equally we are a 20 minute drive  from the Yorkshire Wolds, the inspiration for David Hockney, 25 minutes from Castle Howard and only just over 30 minutes from York. Bempton Cliffs, Flamborough Head, Bridlington and Filey are a little further and you can be at the Deep in Hull in less than an hour.

We use a number of booking partners to give guests options but the best deal will usually be directly with us.
